Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Heat the water, sugar and lemon peels in a saucepan until it comes to a boil, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves.
    Boil for 2 minutes without stirring, timing from the moment it starts boiling. Allow to cool completely.

  2. Squeeze the lemons. Add the lemon juice to the cooled syrup and stir until combined.

  3. Strain the lemon/syrup mixture, pour it into an 1 litre bottle, and store it in the refrigerator for 2–3 months.

  4. To serve: Fill a glass 1/3 full with lemonade and top it off with 2/3 ice-cold water, either still or sparkling. Stir with a spoon and add a few ice cubes.

Notes

Garnish with some fresh mint leaves and/or a wedge of lemon or lime.

To make it spicier, add a piece of ginger root.
