Heart Shaped Bruschette! A Starter for Valentine’s Day
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Prepare the tomatoes mix; cut the tomatoes into small pieces. Place them in a bowl. Add 1 clove garlic finely cut, the basil and oregano. Season with salt and toss until all ingredients combine together. Leave aside for about 30 minutes so as all flavors blend together.
-
Cut the bread using a heart-shaped cutting mold (or at list a sharp knife). Toast it.
It is important that the bread is toasted outside, but soft inside.
The best way to toast the bread is on a BBQ grill but can toast it on a hot plate or in a pan, without adding oil. You can toast it also in an oven with grill function at 200 ° C for 7-8 minutes, remembering to turn the slices halfway. -
Once the bread is toasted and still warm, rub the second garlic clove over it. Place a few spoonfuls of tomatoes mix on top and serve.
Serve them immediately, so that the bread does not absorb too much liquid from the tomatoes and remains crispy.
Notes
- Ingredient quantities are for 2 bruschette.
- I normally use "Casereccio pane" as prescribed by the italian recipe (e.g Schar) but you can use any type of country-style bread.
- Needless to say, you can enjoy these delicious bruschette throughout the year (being in love or not)!
Especially dedicated to my friend Theresa
